#364: Black-bellied Whistling Duck

Yesterday I took a very brief jaunt to Audubon Park where I was informed Black-bellied Whisting Ducks could be easily found. I didn’t find the 1000+ flock I was promised (Maybe they’d flown off to feed somewhere else, or I didn’t hit the right pond?) but I did find these seven:

That’s a Gadwall in the foreground.

Other birds seen or heard included:

  • Greylag Goose (domestic, of course)
  • Mute Swan 1
  • Muscovy Duck
  • Wood Duck 17
  • Mallard
  • Common Goldeneye 1
  • Pied-billed Grebe
  • American Coot
  • Ring-billed Gull
  • Belted Kingfisher 1
  • Red-bellied Woodpecker 1
  • Downy Woodpecker 1
  • American Crow
  • Fish Crow 9
  • Golden-crowned Kinglet 2
  • Ruby-crowned Kinglet 4
  • American Robin
  • Northern Mockingbird
  • Orange-crowned Warbler 1
  • Pine Warbler 1
  • American Goldfinch

I also spent some time driving around uptown looking for White-winged Doves without any success. Maybe today.
