Well did you call them, go online, or walk into a branch and talk to them? I wouldn't judge an entire company based on your one experience. I myself have a checking account with them and have never had to pay for checks.

Perhaps you should go into the branch you opened the account and talk to a teller, or maybe a supervisor or manager. I'm sure they can straighten the situation up for you. I've found the company to have excellent customer service.

If we all held every company to your standard, there isn't one in existence that would pass as a trust worthy company.

I had to click on this -- I was curious what the (Washington, D.C. area) radio station WAMU had to do with $25 checks :-)

Actually, they should be free for life. Not sure what conversation you had with them, but if the checks were misprinted, you shouldn't have a problem requesting a reorder. In fact, you can go online to the website and order them yourself, which will allow you to verify that what gets printed is what you want. Keep in mind that the free checks for life pertain to standard single wallet checks with the WaMu design. If you prefer a design or duplicates, there will be a charge. Good luck!
