The Vagaries of Book Titles

Brian Gill recently asked me where the title for my first book, The Java Developer's Resource, came from. The working title alternated between "Brewing Java" and "Getting Started with Java". PTR didn't like those and wanted to call it something like "Zen and the Art of Java". Not being a Zen Buddhist, I found that title a little offensive (both to me and to Zen Buddhists) so I nixed it. After that, we went through a series of excessively cute ideas like "Java Sorcery" and "The Sensual Cat's Guide to Java". We eventually settled on the more prosaic "The Java Developer's Resource".
