This isn&#8217;t known as a birding hot spot, but it is a known roost for Yellow-chevroned Parakeets. I got there about an hour before they woke up, but  I did eventually here two squawking:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cafeaulait.org\/images\/yellowchevroned.JPG\" alt=\"Yellow-chevroned Parakeet\" border=\"0\" height=\"411\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" width=\"640\"\/><\/p>\n<p>These aren&#8217;t officially countable yet, but it was the first time I&#8217;ve seen one in the wild.<\/p>\n<p>I did get a real life bird, though I didn&#8217;t realize this till I got back to New York and checked my official list. I thought I&#8217;d seen Hooded Oriole previously down in Orange County about a year and a half ago. However, it turns out the orioles I saw then were Scott&#8217;s Orioles, not Hooded. Hooded was new.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/05\/hoodedoriole.JPG' alt='Hooded Oriole at Mission Dolores Park' width='626' height='392' \/><\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/05\/hoodedorioleintree.JPG' alt='Hooded Oriole at Mission Dolores Park' width='640' height='467' \/><\/p>\n<p>Also present were House Finches, Lesser Goldfinches, American Crow, Common Raven, Bushtits, Western Gull, Brewer&#8217;s Blackbird, Anna&#8217;s Hummingbird, European Starling, House Sparrow, and Rock Pigeon.
