I put the scope on them and there they were, two White-cheeked Pintails!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/White-cheeked-PIntails.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"White-cheeked Pintails\" width=\"760\" height=\"504\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1003143\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/White-cheeked-PIntails.jpg 760w, https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/White-cheeked-PIntails-150x99.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Not the best photo. These were quite far away, the light was fading,  I had to use a 1.4x teleconverter which dropped my lens down to f\/8, and ISO was about 1250. However, two mornings later I found what were likely the same two pintails walking around on the hotel lawn:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/White-cheeked-Pintails-in-Copa-Marina-pool.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"White-cheeked Pintails in Copa Marina pool\" width=\"900\" height=\"599\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1003144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/White-cheeked-Pintails-in-Copa-Marina-pool.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/White-cheeked-Pintails-in-Copa-Marina-pool-150x99.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless I think these are definitively wild birds. They flew away as soon as they saw me. I&#8217;ve seen them again but only when no people are around. <\/p>\n<p>That makes four life birds on my first full day in Puerto Rico, without even going to any parks.
