Time permitting I&#8217;ll fill them in with more details and photographs later, but there are so many birds it&#8217;s easy to get way behind. Numbers may not add up until I edit this more carefully.<\/i> <\/p>\n<p>Around 10:30 we tore ourselves away from the raptor migration on top of the tower, descended to the courtyard, and walked down the entrance road. Almost immediately we found a small flock of antbirds and others including Fasciated Antshrike and Red-capped Manakin. 13 more life birds total:<\/p>\n<ol start='570'>\n<li>Black Hawk-Eagle<\/li>\n<li>Slaty-tailed Trogon<\/li>\n<li>White-whiskered Puffbird<\/li>\n<li>Plain Xenops<\/li>\n<li>Cocoa Woodcreeper<\/li>\n<li>Fasciated Antshrike<\/li>\n<li>Western Slaty-Antshrike<\/li>\n<li>Checker-throated Antwren<\/li>\n<li>White-flanked Antwren<\/li>\n<li>Dot-winged Antwren<\/li>\n<li>Southern Bentbill<\/li>\n<li>Blue-crowned Manakin<\/li>\n<li>White-breasted Wood-Wren<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>There are whole families of birds here I&#8217;ve never seen before including Manakins, Antbirds, Toucans, and Puffbirds. It helps greatly to have a guide when you can&#8217;t even place a bird to family at first glance. Plus the guides are much better at locating the birds. <\/p>\n<p>Total list I saw (not including several birds I missed) was:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Black Vulture<\/li>\n<li>Turkey Vulture<\/li>\n<li>Black Hawk-Eagle<\/li>\n<li>Slaty-tailed Trogon<\/li>\n<li>Broad-billed Motmot<\/li>\n<li>White-whiskered Puffbird<\/li>\n<li>Keel-billed Toucan<\/li>\n<li>Plain Xenops<\/li>\n<li>Cocoa Woodcreeper<\/li>\n<li>Fasciated Antshrike<\/li>\n<li>Western Slaty-Antshrike<\/li>\n<li>Checker-throated Antwren<\/li>\n<li>White-flanked Antwren<\/li>\n<li>Dot-winged Antwren<\/li>\n<li>Southern Bentbill<\/li>\n<li>Eastern Wood-Pewee<\/li>\n<li>Acadian Flycatcher<\/li>\n<li>Blue-crowned Manakin<\/li>\n<li>Red-capped Manakin<\/li>\n<li>White-breasted Wood-Wren<\/li>\n<li>Black-and-white Warbler<\/li>\n<li>Canada Warbler<\/li>\n<li>White-shouldered Tanager<\/li>\n<li>Scarlet-rumped Cacique<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Around 12:00 the van picked us up, still only half way down the road, and we returned to the tower for a hot lunch. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m putting up some quick placeholders here.
