Species I still need from Texas include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>White-collared Seedeater (Upper Rio Grande Valley)<\/li>\n<li>Golden-cheeked Warbler<\/li>\n<li>Black-capped Vireo<\/li>\n<li>Hook-billed Kite<\/li>\n<li>Masked Duck (rare)<\/li>\n<li>Swallow-tailed Kite (rare; easier in Florida)<\/li>\n<li>Short-tailed Hawk<\/li>\n<li>Harlan&#8217;s Hawk<\/li>\n<li>Ferruginous Hawk<\/li>\n<li>Ferruginous Pygmy Owl (King Ranch)<\/li>\n<li>Prairie Falcon<\/li>\n<li>Lesser Prairie Chicken<\/li>\n<li>Scaled Quail<\/li>\n<li>Yellow Rail<\/li>\n<li>Black Rail<\/li>\n<li>Mountain Plover<\/li>\n<li>Red-billed Pigeon<\/li>\n<li>Elf Owl<\/li>\n<li>Cordilleran Flycacther<\/li>\n<li>Gray Vireo<\/li>\n<li>Black-whiskered Vireo (easier in Florida)<\/li>\n<li>Yellow-green Vireo (rare)<\/li>\n<li>Brown Jay<\/li>\n<li>Tamaulipas Crow<\/li>\n<li>Brown-headed Nuthatch (also in Louisiana and Florida)<\/li>\n<li>Rock Wren<\/li>\n<li>Canyon Wren<\/li>\n<li>Mountain Bluebird<\/li>\n<li>Sprague&#8217;s Pipit<\/li>\n<li>Swainson&#8217;s Warbler<\/li>\n<li>Golden-cheeked Warbler<\/li>\n<li>Crimson-collared Grosbeak (rare Mexican vagrant)<\/li>\n<li>Varied Bunting<\/li>\n<li>Canyon Towhee<\/li>\n<li>Green-tailed Towhee (missed repeatedly this past trip)<\/li>\n<li>White-collared Seedeater<\/li>\n<li>Lark Bunting<\/li>\n<li>Bachman&#8217;s Sparrow (easier in Florida)<\/li>\n<li>Cassin&#8217;s Sparrow<\/li>\n<li>Brewer&#8217;s Sparrow<\/li>\n<li>Baird&#8217;s Sparrow<\/li>\n<li>Pink-sided Junco<\/li>\n<li>Smith&#8217;s Longspur<\/li>\n<li>Mccown&#8217;s Longspur<\/li>\n<li>Chestnut-collared Longspur<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Some of these I could get next year at the RGBVF again if I go to different spots. For others I may need to visit different parts of the state, especially West Texas. <\/p>\n<p>I could grab a few at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laredobirdingfestival.com\/\">Laredo Birding Festival<\/a> in February which should find White-collared Seedeater, Cassin&#8217;s Sparrow, Varied Bunting, Red-billed Pigeon, and a few others. <\/p>\n<p>Another good option is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wingsoverthehills.org\/\">Wings over the Hills<\/a> in April which offers great chances for two endangered species, Golden-cheeked Warbler and Black-capped Vireo, and possibly other species since I haven&#8217;t yet visited the Texas Hill Country.
