This morning, however, Tommy and I were up even before the rest of the group and out in the gardens at 5:30AM, and we were not disappointed. The first bird up with us was #851, Rufous-naped Wren:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Rufous-naped-Wren.jpg\" alt=\"Rufous-naped Wren\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1004758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Rufous-naped-Wren.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Rufous-naped-Wren-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This was soon followed by #852, Grayish Saltator:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Grayish-Saltator.jpg\" alt=\"Grayish Saltator\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1004757\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Grayish-Saltator.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Grayish-Saltator-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I thought Rufous-tailed Hummingbird was #853, but it turned out I&#8217;d seen this previously in Panama. Instead #853 was Red-billed Pigeon, a bird that just reaches up into the ABA area in Southern Texas, but which I&#8217;ve never seen there. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Red-billed-Pigeon.jpg\" alt=\"Red-billed Pigeon\" width=\"899\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1004760\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Red-billed-Pigeon.jpg 899w, https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Red-billed-Pigeon-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 899px) 100vw, 899px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had multiple flyovers by #854, Crimson-fronted Parakeet. These were hard to ID, and honestly I didn&#8217;t really have them. However once we left the hotel, we spotted two much closer from the bus so I can count them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Crimson-fronted-Parakeet.jpg\" alt=\"Crimson-fronted Parakeets\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1004762\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Crimson-fronted-Parakeet.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.elharo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Crimson-fronted-Parakeet-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>#855 was a Hoffmann&#8217;s Woodpecker.<\/p>\n<p>#856 was a very distinctive White-eared Ground-Sparrow.<\/p>\n<p>The final bird before we went inside for breakfast was #857, Rufous-collared Sparrow. I didn&#8217;t get a good look at this, but I&#8217;m told it&#8217;s common at Bosque de Paz where we&#8217;re staying for the next couple of nights.<\/p>\n<p>After breakfast Tommy and I birded the parking lot.
