Maine Roads

There seems to be one special rule for driving in Maine. Whatever road you’re one, whichever lane you’re in: left, middle, or center, it will eventually turn into a right turn only or left turn only lane. You cannot drive straight in this state.

It’s the same story in upstate New York. I bet it’s the same in any rural area, at least in the East where highways are narrow.

When I first moved to CT I was driving at the prevailing speed on Route 84 west of Hartford when I found myself taking the first left-hand highway exit I’d ever seen at over 70mph. I did manage to avoid leaving the road but it was close. It’s important to pay attention to those arrows on the green signs.
